Installing Floor Saver Glide® Snap-on Caps
The Floor Saver Glide® Snap-on Caps are designed for use on
glides with swivel bases which are approximately 1-1/4” in diameter. You can
measure the diameter, or width across the base, with a vernier, a hole gage or
by simply holding a ruler to the bottom of the base to estimate that the
diameter is 1-1/4”.
With the chair or desk placed firmly and securely on a
stable surface, upside down with the glides facing upward, place one Floor
Saver Glide® Snap-on Cap, with its open side facing downward, on
top of one of the existing glides. Then with a rubber or leather mallet,
deliver a single blow to the cap, but only hard enough to properly snap the cap
over the existing glide. Over-striking the cap or using a steel hammer can
damage the cap, the glide and/or the chair or desk, as well as can lead to
personal injury. THE APPROPRIATE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE OBSERVED DURING
INSTALLATION-- ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR.
Depending on the exact style of glide you have on your
existing chairs as well as the amount the glide base has worn, the cap may fit
tightly or loosely. Generally the cap should fit snugly, with little
in-and-out shake, on new, unworn glides. Similarly, if the existing glides are
older and exhibit wear, the caps will fit more loosely and you will notice some
movement of the cap in-and-out from the base of the glide.
